Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if only you would hear his voice, Psalm 95:6-7 NIV
There are many today who would love for you to believe God is not speaking to His people any longer. Their motive?… I don’t know; Their claims?… way, way off base. Not only is God speaking today to His people, He is speaking today to all people… You see, God thinks All people belong to Him, and He is ready everyday – all day long to speak with me, with you and with anyone who is ready to Seek Him and to Hear Him…
First notice the verses above, Psalm 95:6-7… “God” through His Holy Spirit is speaking, there is no question about that… at least there should not be. So.. who is He speaking with? He is speaking to US, He is speaking to OUR, He is speaking to People, He is speaking with whoever (you) is hearing His voice. …When?… Today!!!
God is speaking today to all who are hearing His voice… do you agree? Oh… I understand the verse was written long ago, I realize it was written to the people of Israel, or so we have been told… I realize it could be said that God is speaking only to the ones bowing down, those who have come to worship Him… but is that really true?? …Please, let me explain.
I believe God is timeless, eternal. I believe when God speaks it is forever and to whoever is willing to hear Him. I believe His words and His promises are what we and this world are formed and held together by… the glue that holds it all together, so to speak… I could go on and on, and there are many Scriptures that agree with and confirm my beliefs… however if you are familiar with the Bible, you have already thought of many of them yourself and if you are not familiar with the Bible, I hope you will become interested in becoming that way.! …At the risk of being thought insane… I will even go so far as to say: “I believe it possible, that All of us and All of this Physical World and existence we inhabit, exist entirely and only in the heart and mind of God”… and as evidence I will give one verse… ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ — Acts 17:28
I guess I should probably end after that rant, if I haven’t lost you already… but I am not quite finished… I think the problem today is this… We have listened so long, to so many other external voices telling us what God says, we believe that is the way it was meant to be. What do you think?… I believe too many of us are waiting and listening for God to speak “loud and clear” to us from some external source as He did on Mt. Sinai as depicted in the picture. I think most of us are expecting to hear Our Father’s Voice through some major authority figure like Moses speaking from some pulpit on some stage from some Great Place with much historical and religious significance…
Am I wrong? I surely hope so… Why? … because that sets the stage for ‘Anti-Christ’… and I see us coming closer to that place everyday… !!!!!! …Do you??
I want to close with this… Jesus came to this earth to SHOW us WHAT God is like… WHO God is like and WHY God is like He is… and HOW God sounds… Jesus is our “Perfect Image” of God to look at… He is God’s picture, portrait … if you will? … Jesus also came to this earth to prepare a place for us, in us, where He Himself can dwell with us… He is in you… He is in me… He is “the still small voice” inside us all. … Jesus died in order to be able to fill you up with Himself, with His Voice, with His Spirit, with the “Breath (life) of God… Jesus is God in You and in me… Jesus is not an External Voice… Jesus is THE Internal Voice, hear Him!!!
So, as the Holy Spirit says:
“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did.
That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.’ So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”
See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
“But the Voice of Truth, tells me a different story,
The Voice of Truth says, ‘do not be afraid'”
Please Explore for yourself…
God (Jesus) has much He would love for you to HEAR!!!….. TODAY..!
Love, In His name…
Just a Note: “I try my best not to tell folks what they should believe… my intent as a teacher is to help people who are struggling with what they already have been taught they must believe.”
Thanks! Just felt I needed to say this…
What the hell is Hell anyway?
Much talk going on today about Hell… If it exist, is it eternal, who, if any will be there and for how long? etc. To be truthful, I must say, I don’t really know… do you? Oh, don’t get me wrong, I know what the Bible says; I have studied the subject many times… I know what the popular accepted belief of today is, or at least it seems to be accepted. As I talk to folks about the subject, I find many who do not agree or accept the commonly held views on Hell, but most are just reluctant to come-out and say-so!
I am not going into great detail or debate on this, but I am going to share a few of my own thoughts and hopefully maybe answer some questions many of us are just too uncomfortable to ask in a formal setting… Again these are ‘just my thoughts’, my ‘pondering’ and may not be as theologically sound as you might like them to be. That is ok, we as Christians are allowed to think freely and critically about things that don’t set right with us in our spirit. In fact we are even told to do so many more times in the Bible than we have been led to believe… So here goes!!!
First of all, I think much of what we hear preached on Hell today has just been handed down to us from generations past without much study or investigation on the history or the validity of this teaching or doctrine, if you prefer… We just assume that since the doctrine has been around so long it must have been there all-along, but this is simply not true! … A quick study of the doctrine of Hell and eternal damnation will reveal SURPRISING results. “Wikipedia” is a great and inexpensive way to begin to investigate on your own… Here is a link to get you started, if you dare to go there… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_views_on_Hell… , this is only a small part of a large document, so please read it all when you are ready… Now just a small suggestion. Try to do your research outside of already established schools of thought, these only use the Bible to prove their own views. Most of these sites cherry-pick verses to uphold their preconceived notions of what Hell is. Regardless of what you have been told… you will not go to Hell if you use history and resources outside of the scriptures themselves.
Like I stated above: “I try not to tell you what to believe.” I do not try to make you believe what I believe, my goal is to help you investigate what you believe and why you believe what you believe… One of my favorite verses in the Bible is this:
Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
— Mark 2:27
This is a profound statement by Jesus, to the Religious Rulers, which we today would do well to give much thought. ~ Think about it!!! ~
~ What did Jesus mean by making this statement? ~
First I think we need to return to the Creation account in Genesis… There we find God bringing our physical world into existence. If this was a literal “six-day” creation is not the point of this article. The seventh day is our focus today.
Lets do return to the sixth day and review all that existed at that time, on that day. We have Light, separated from Darkness. We have waters above, separated from waters below by an entity called “sky”… We have waters under the sky being gathered into one place so dry ground appears and the calling of the waters “seas” and the calling of dry ground “land”… We have all the different vegetation called forth from the “land”, we have the “sky” bringing forth lights, the solar system for many purposes. We also have all the various forms of “sea” life and birds called forth from their respective environments, “water and air”… We have all forms of animal life, creatures that crawl on the ground, wild beast and maybe domesticated animals as well called forth from the “land” … And finally we have “man” (mankind?) called forth from the Image and Likeness of God Himself… whew, that is a lot of work, don’t you think?
Now I have said all of that to get to this: ” As the first chapter of Creation (genesis, beginnings) comes to a close what is missing?… The Seventh Day is missing in the created order of things, strange don’t you think?
In Genesis Chapter Two, verse One we read: “Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.” … Still no Seventh Day, no Sabbath mentioned in the “Completed” creation account !!! Is there an intentional reason for the division here? I think so, do you?
I do not intend to get into a long drawn-out theological discussion on this as I believe we have already ruled and reasoned away most of the “Mystery” in the Bible anyway. I do however think it fascinating how things which are not so apparent get overlooked so easily by most of us.. myself included. I am trying to correct this limitation in myself and thought maybe you would like to do the same…?
I am not going into a lot of details, nor am I going to try to prove a point… I just think we need to pause sometimes where the Bible has built-in a place to pause… and ponder. Pondering has become a “lost discipline” of the past, in this fast paced generation and culture we live in, and we have lost our ability to “think” ponder on things for ourselves. We have opted for instruction, teaching, education, formulas, methods, indoctrination and such. I am not saying any of these things are wrong in and of themselves, however when we become so accustomed to only these, that we no longer know how to think on our own, then we all will be led by the “few” who do think for themselves and do not confined themselves to doctrine, dogma, indoctrination and such… Ok, I went into a little more detail than I had planned, so forgive me please?
What I was trying to get to is, “the Seventh Day” was not part of the “Six Day” creation… it was a special day separated by a whole different chapter… There was intended to be a pause there to stop, reflect, ponder, dwell on, etc.; Intentionally placed there originally or not, the pause is there nonetheless… so what could it mean?
I am not going to tell you what it means… that would defeat the purpose of the “Seventh Day” that would defeat the purpose of the “Sabbath” that would defeat the purpose of the “Pause”… Of the “Day to Ponder”… It would defeat the purpose of this post and it would remove all the Mystery for you…
I will however let you in on something… it can be any day, but not at all like any other day. It is a special day that can happen any day of the week… it is not even really a day at all, as it could actually last for the rest of your life! … It is a Day, The Day of a brand New Chapter in your Life…
Now, have a Good Day and ~ Think about it!!! ~
~ and you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free”…
I love the Bible. I think most Christians love the Bible… but many of us have different views of the Bible! I am not going into who I think is right or wrong… or even if any of us are right or wrong! I am going to just post some of my own thoughts on the subject… You may agree or disagree, that is not the point. The point is; I think most, if not all of us share these same questions and sometimes we just do not allow ourselves the freedom to think outside of our religious upbringing.
So, here goes, if you are with me, keep reading, if not, that’s Ok too!
The Bible, I believe is first of all a history book. The history of a people whom God chose from the beginning to “begin” to reveal Himself to and through. Most of us today have come to think and believe that this people was/is the nation of Israel and that may be the case, .. but is that the whole story? Adam was not an Israelite, nor was Eve… Noah and his wife and sons and their wives were not Israelites… Abraham, Sarah, Isaac nor Rebecca were Israelites. Esau was not an Israelite and neither was Jacob, at birth… Jacob, “became” Israel when God changed his name! …Funny too, is that many times God identifies Himself as “the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob” without making reference to the name change at all. Interesting don’t you think?
There is way too much theology to get into concerning the above information and that is not the point of this blog… But, what does this say to your thoughts concerning who God’s “chosen people” really are??? Am I saying Israel is not God’s chosen?… absolutely not, they are, and so are you and so am I. We are ALL God’s chosen people… The Israelites were just the first to grab hold of the idea and run with it, so to speak.
So, first of all “I believe the Bible is a history book.
Secondly, Do I believe the Bible is a Man? … No, I do not. I do believe However that the Bible itself reveals that the “WORD OF GOD” is a man, the Man Jesus Christ… Read John’s gospel chapter 1… “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God… He was with God in the beginning.” Later in the same gospel we read “and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.” I believe the Bible itself is declaring that Jesus is the “Word of God made man”…
There is much debate today over the inerrancy and infallibility of the Scriptures and I believe this is the simple answer to this discussion. Jesus is the “Word of God” and He is perfect, without error and infallible in every way. There is no misinterpretation or misunderstanding in Him if we will only look at His Life and His ministry on earth.
That is as far is I will go on this post into this area… but I hope you will think about it as you continue to read and study the Bible… So, no I do not believe the Bible is a man, but I do believe the “Word of God” is the perfect Son of God and HE contains no errors and is perfect in every way…
Thirdly… I believe the Bible is a message. I believe it is a perfect message to an imperfect humanity, who happens to “all” be God’s perfect chosen instruments for conveying His perfect love to thousands and thousands who do not yet know this Man, Jesus.
I believe “we” who use the Bible, read the Bible and understand the Bible, should stop using it as a weapon of warfare and start using it as a “Peacemaker” … I believe “we” myself included have far too long used this “Love Letter” to a lost and dying humanity, to further our own causes and ideals, … to inflict pain and torment on lost souls seeking peace, love and grace in and through other religions and institutions who can only offer rules, regulations, creeds, moral and social codes as enlightenment, … leaving these poor souls empty and void of the “LOVE and Mercy and Grace” that the Message of this book, the Bible reveals… It should ONLY be used as a weapon for the tearing down of strongholds of powers, principalities and Rulers of Darkness in HIGH places…. and I will leave it to you to decide who and what this description reveals…
So, yes I do think the Bible is a message… whether it is Good News or bad news is more in the deliverer or messenger than in the message itself, which is the Gospel, the Good News… It has only become bad news because “we” have delivered it in the wrong spirit.
Now… Lastly. I do believe the Bible is an instruction “Manuel” … notice the pun? …not a book of rules and regulations and penalties and curses and such?… I believe the Bible was/is written to Humanity as a whole… and not just the Ancients or Barbarians, but to one and all of us. I do however believe the Bible was written in a society by those of that society and culture where things were much different than they are today… Not the problems and challenges that face us as humans, those are the same in every generation, culture and society… I mean the thinking, philosophy and superstitions were much different then and “we” should take these differences into consideration when we read, study, and most of all before we deliver the Message.
The reason for the “Pun” is this… the Bible is a book, a manual as it were about a Manuel, “Emmanuel” in fact, who came from OLD the beginnings, to show us the Message of who God is, how God thinks, how God acts and reacts to the mistakes and misunderstandings of mankind. … Jesus as the “Word of God” is God’s perfect idea of a man, a perfect man who will lay down His life so that the True Message of God’s Love can be heard in each and every generation since the beginning of time and eternity… He, Jesus is the perfect Messenger and the perfect Message for the World… Their world, your world and my world!
I could go on and on, but you would get tired of reading… and I would get tired of writing, but Thanks be to God, he does not get tired, ever, of us and He never, ever will and that is the Truth… forever
Hope this has helped with some of your questions… it sure has helped with some of mine!
Love in Jesus!
We as Christians should never judge another persons sin. The Bible makes this very clear… Jesus said to the ones who had hauled in a women caught in adultery, “He among you who has no sin, let him be the one to throw the first stone.” Of course there was only one there who was able to cast the stone and He did not, so what should that tell us?
I know all the arguments about using our discernment and such. I have heard all the excuses claiming that using our judgment is not judging the other person. I know we know sin when we see it in another, we just rarely see our own, in us! That is the problem…
We are quick to point out what is wrong with someone else, not so quick to look in the mirror. I can see your faults much sooner than I realize my own, or can I..? ..No I believe that is exactly why we will point at other people first; we realize we are just as guilty, often of the same “exact sin” we are calling out in another and if not the exact, one very similar. Why do we do this? ..It makes me feel better about me, that’s why… and it makes you feel better about you too! That is why we do it, it temporarily gets me off the hook and allows me to put you on it and vice versa. Don’t say it’s not true, you know it is and I do too.
The Bible is full of places where it tells us not to do this and I am not even going to start naming verses and such; You know what they say and so do I. What I am going to say is very simple. We need to stop it. Why? … Well the most apparent reason would be, it makes us hypocrites. Judging someone else when you are just as guilty is hypocrisy plain and simple.
The Bible tells us if we do this, we will be judged in like manner. God will not judge us on account of it… because He keeps no records of wrongs, but people do. You do and I do, and we just end up judging and criticizing and crucifying one another’s character. We pass judgment on ourselves… and we show everyone how immature and unloving we really are. Is that enough? .. No, another thing we do when we judge others is, we allow our own sin to remain, believing that since someone else is now on trial, no one is watching me and that my friend is deadly. Your sins will find you out… so will mine!
I think if we could all just show each other some mercy and grace for a change, maybe we could return the favor (grace) when life calls “our own sin” out into the open. What do you think? …Take the lady caught in adultery, do you think she went out the next week and drug someone else before the elders and townspeople demanding they be stoned? I doubt it very much. She had been shown love, mercy, grace, patience and understanding by the only One in the world who was truly qualified to judge her. … Jesus let her go, without condemning her, much unlike her friends.
I do not believe in tolerating sin or ignoring it, especially my own. Sin will destroy us if we allow it to continue to work its wickedness in us and out of us into others. I am learning though, to be patience with myself and with you too. I know when it is time for sin to be dealt with, it will be dealt with. I hope when it’s my turn to be on the hook, I will be surrounded by folks that I have been patience with… People that I just kept on loving and praying for. Guys and Gals I have helped to overcome, without being judgmental and critical.
I already know how Jesus will judge me, He already has. He has stood up for me and been Judged in my place. He has already taken the punishment my sins deserved. He still loves me totally and completely. He sees nothing disappointing in me whatsoever. So, I will try to do the same for you. … When Jesus deals with me, He says: “go and sin no more.” Then He gives me the power and the “will power” to do just that….
The next time you see someone caught in sin… be kind and loving and forgiving towards them. You never know… they may be on your jury some day in the future!
Think about It!!!
